Fortress Baton Corps

What we do

The Corps is made up of students 5 years of age and older. Our Baton Teams can be seen in numerous parades in the North Western Ohio area.

Our Baton, Pom Pon and Floor Show Teams compete for State, National and International titles at "Twirling Unlimited" sponsored events. Each year our teams receive top honors. We have also won many awards at the Ohio State Fair. Our Corps members work hard for their accomplishments and represent their community with pride.

At Fortress, Corps members don't just learn how to twirl a baton.  They learn cooperation, discipline, teamwork, and respect. These are the things that are learned by the students just by their participation.  Students are given instruction based on age and ability.  As ability improves with practice, students are given new challenges.

Students also learn:

  • Agility
  • Balance
  • Coordination
  • Self confidence
  • Stage Presence
  • Grace
  • Parade marching skills
  • Dance an gymnastic skills

What's more, Fortress isn't "just a Baton Corps".  Yes, our students do learn Baton Skills, but also many different props are used in our floor shows.  We use Pom Pons, rings, flags, rifles, hats and even chairs.  Our director is always coming up with new props to use!
