About Fortress Fortress
Baton Corps, under the Award Winning direction of Sandy Gooding,
is based in Tiffin, Ohio. Our Baton and Pom teams compete and
receive top honors in street parades and floor show events at
the local, state, national and international levels. Sandy
has been actively instructing students of all ages for over 28
years. Her experience, determination and great direction have
lead Fortress to many winning seasons.
The Corps is made up of students 5 years of age and older.
Our Corps members work hard for their
accomplishments and represent their community with pride.
At Fortress, Corps members don't just learn how to twirl a
baton. They learn cooperation, discipline, teamwork, and
respect. These are the things that are learned by the students
just by their participation. Students are given
instruction based on age and ability. As ability improves
with practice, students are given new challenges.
Students also learn:
- Agility
- Balance
- Coordination
- Self confidence
|
- Stage Presence
- Grace
- Parade marching skills
- Dance and gymnastic skills
|
What's more, Fortress isn't "just a Baton Corps". Yes,
our students do learn Baton Skills, but also many different
props are used in our floor shows. We use Pom Pons, rings,
flags, rifles, hats and even chairs. Our director is
always coming up with new props to use!
